Cassie Shugert - STATE BOUND!

Cassie Shugert, a Junior at FCA is State Bound again! She received a perfect score at District Science Fair, which was held on Saturday, March 24th at OU Lancaster. She has represented FCA for the last 3 years. Her Science Fair Project is called, "To Sleep or Not To Sleep." It is about Sleep Apnea and finding key indicators. She ended up finding out that the only indicator is the weight of a person. Her experiences with science fair have been stressful and beneficial. She uses them to explore jobs that she may want to do after college. Because of her science fair projects, she has chosen Respiratory Therapy as her major in college. Cassie says she would not change her years of science fair for anything.

SENIOR PROJECT JUDGES NEEDED

One of the expectations we at Fairfield Christian Academy have of our seniors is that each student completes the Senior Project Initiative. Its purpose is to not only challenge all students and raise expectations to improve achievement, but also to provide a culminating activity for seniors to demonstrate the essential skills they all should have before leaving high school.Senior project is a year long project that allows the student to create their own capstone experience. The project incorporates many essential life skills such as writing, computer knowledge, interpersonal relationships, time management, problem solving, critical thinking and public speaking.

The last part to the Senior Project is a 12-minute oral presentation of the paper and project that each student will make to a board of community members and teachers in May.

And that is where YOU come in.  Would you be willing to donate a few hours to FCA to help judge our 35 Senior Projects this year? You would be asked to review three students on May 22nd from 7:00-9:00 pm. There will be a training session with Mrs. Knechtel in room 512 at 6:00pm.  (You may also be interested in learning about the projects our students have completed!!) Please let Stacey Rauch know if you would be willing to be a Senior Project Judge! She may be reached at slrauch@fairfieldchristianacademy.com or in the high school office at extension 312.

Thank you so much for considering giving of your time and talents in this way!
